Introducing The Malu
“Malu” is an Aboriginal word used in parts of Australia to describe the raw force of nature — storm, thunder, lightning. It speaks to those moments when the sky turns, the wind rises, and everything shifts. Beautiful, powerful… and unstoppable.
This brush tells that story.
Handcrafted from brown mallee burl, the base anchors the piece in the earth — solid, grounded. Rising from it, a yellow paper daisy leans off balance, caught in the invisible force of a storm. At its centre, a vivid purple globe amaranth holds on, delicate yet defiant. The entire scene is suspended in clear resin with a warm golden tint, like light breaking through chaos.
The contrast is intentional.
Nature can be calm, but it can also be relentless. Even the most fragile things aren’t always safe — yet there’s beauty in that tension, in that moment of resistance.
The shape of the brush is simple, smooth, and calming in the hand — a quiet counterbalance to the energy captured within. It feels natural, effortless… like the calm after the storm.
