Introducing The Billabong
The Billabong takes its name from the Wiradjuri word for a waterhole — a place where life gathers, slows, and quietly endures. Like those hidden bends in the river, this brush holds a sense of stillness… with something vibrant just beneath the surface.
At its base, native red mallee burl anchors the piece — raw, rugged, unmistakably Australian. From there it shifts, catching light with flashes of gold and bright green shimmer, like sunlight dancing on still water. And then, almost unexpectedly, a soft pink globe amaranth rises through it all — calm, balanced, and just a little bit playful.
Every part of this brush has passed through my hands. I grew the flower, dried it, selected the timber, poured the resin, and turned it on the lathe — shaping it slowly into what it is now. No shortcuts, no outsourcing… just time, patience, and a bit of stubbornness.
Encased in clear resin, it feels like a moment suspended in time. A small piece of Australia you can hold — made from Australian materials, and made right here, start to finish.
