The Canberra - a glowing tribute to the Bush Capital

Named after Australia’s capital, The Canberra is a tribute to both heritage and nature—a handcrafted knot handle that captures the spirit of the “Bush Capital.” Canberra, nestled among forests and nature reserves, was founded as a compromise between Sydney and Melbourne, but its roots go far deeper than federation. The name Canberra comes from the Ngunnawal language, meaning “meeting place,” honouring the Traditional Custodians of the land whose connection to the region spans tens of thousands of years.

Entirely hand-crafted by me in Emerald Beach, this handle is a custom order and one-of-a-kind. I carefully picked, dried, and arranged each flower with intention: at the base, soft light-pink Globe Amaranth, and at the centre, a striking deep-purple Amaranth that anchors the piece with richness and depth. Above them flows a layer of ultra-clear resin tinted with a dreamy green-blue hue and infused with fine gold dust—subtle, radiant, and ever-changing with the light. Capped with crisp white epoxy, its silhouette is fluid and curvaceous, shaped for a natural, comfortable grip. And yes—it glows in the dark, like a quiet reminder of starlit skies over the bush.

The Canberra isn’t just a brush handle—it’s a meeting point between tradition, artistry, and story.
