Introducing The Gumbaynggirr—a brush forged with the same fire, grit, and pulse as a screaming guitar riff. Its name honours the Gumbaynggirr people, the Traditional Custodians of the land where I live and work. Their deep connection to Country is like a steady bass line running beneath everything—reminding me to create with respect, rhythm, and heart. This brush has been months in the making, tuned and refined like an album before it hits the stage, and it’s just one of several variations already rocking the workshop (with more waiting in the wings).
Now crank it up—the brush itself is a little rock show in your hand. The handle is built from brown mallee burl, stacked with thin wooden discs like layers of vinyl pressed into something timeless. On the base: a circle of pink globe amaranth flowers, each one facing outward like fans with their hands in the air. Flip it over and you’ll find the hidden track—a single purple globe amaranth at the centre, staring right back at you. It’s the soul of the piece, humming like feedback after the last chord.
The next layer brings four more flowers—two pink, two purple—balanced like a perfect harmony. And at the top? A golden pine cone standing proud, the frontman of the whole ensemble, gleaming under the stage lights.
Threaded through it all are sparks of turquoise and flashes of gold, shimmering in the epoxy like spotlights cutting through the smoke. The knot sits in a white crown, capped with a translucent turquoise drip that slides down like hot wax from a candle on a backstage amp—proof that even your morning shave can feel like a ritual with an encore.
And to set the mood, there was only one way to introduce The Gumbaynggirr: with a song from none other than Australia’s own thunderous legends, AC/DC—Acca Dacca to us down under. This brush doesn’t whisper, it roars. It’s bold, electric, unapologetic—ready to hit the stage every morning with you.
